Soulmate Movies: Soulmates on the Big Screen

Soulmate Movies

There are probably thousands of good soulmate movies, so we have listed some our very favorite soulmate movies here. All of them are great soulmate movies to watch although they all contain a Hollywood twist that takes it just a bit over the top, only the way Hollywood can do it. Interesting thing is that each of these soulmate movies had a soulmate crisis point that each of the parties had to work through, to grow and evolve.

Soulmate Movies

Jerry Maguire – when he tells Renee Zegweller’s character “You complete me”? Really Tom? You are supposed to be complete on your own, but you are weak. We get it. It was very romantic to show up that way though and give all our readers hope that their romantic relationships will end up the same way.

Braveheart – William Wallace turned Scotland upside down to take revenge on the English lord who killed his secret wife, Murron. Her ghost seems to haunt him for the rest of his life until the end when she just comes for him to take him to heaven, as he is tortured and beheaded…and they are reunited in paradise. We do believe however, that is a soulmate goes before the other, the soulmate will come for you when it is your time.

City of Angels – an angel gives up his wings, and place in Heaven, to be united with a mortal woman. She dies and goes to Heaven. He is stuck on the earth without her. A true soulmate tragedy as the experience forced him to learn a major life lesson… don’t give up your wings.

Reformation – The character Meg Ryan walks around the insane asylum of a mid 17th century English country hospital insisting Robert Downey Jr.’s character is her “split apart”.

Titanic – Rose still dreams of Jack 60 plus years after the tragic sinking of the Titanic and ‘every night in her dreams, she sees him, she feels him’. Yes you will always dream of your soulmate, if they go to the other side before you, if they end your relationship or there are relationship issues. Some of you will even dream of your soulmate before you meet them!

The Lake House – Alex and Kate live in parallel universes but they are able to communicate via letter through the magical mailbox. They make plans to meet, but then delay the meeting to save one of their lives and postpone it to some future date.. again undergoing the trials and tribulations of a true soulmate relationship and the sacrifices they had to make to ultimately be together at some future time.

Twilight – She loves him even though he is a vampire…..and could kill her. Then again he could make her immortal so they could become immortal soulmates until someone puts a stake in their hearts.

What other soulmate movies can you think of that have soulmate themes in them? We are not making fun of these soulmate movies as most of them do have great stories and screenplays. However, soulmate movies and romance novels can present an overly romanticized view of the true soulmate relationship which we can then project onto the expectation for our own relationships. Let’s leave the fantastical to Hollywood, and be realistic in our soulmate relationships and they will naturally improve.

We have also composed a list, by popular demand, of some twin flame movies.
